Retaining Wall and Garden project in Sunbury
30 Dec 2025

The Challenge
The original front yard in Sunbury presented a significant challenge with its uneven terrain and neglected state. The client required a solution that would not only stabilise the soil but also provide a clean, modern aesthetic that required minimal ongoing effort to maintain. This is where the TLC team stepped in.
The Build: Structural Integrity & Design
To address the slope, we focused on heavy-duty structural elements:
Tiered Retaining Walls: We installed tiered walls using 75mm treated pine sleepers. These aren't just decorative; we used steel posts concreted deep into the ground to ensure the structure remains perfectly level and durable against the Sunbury soil pressure for decades.
Native Softscaping: Following the client’s vision, we curated a selection of Australian natives. These plants were chosen specifically for their ability to thrive in the local climate while providing year-round greenery without high water demands.
Precision Irrigation: To protect the investment, we installed a dual-zone irrigation system:
Garden Beds: Fully automated drip line system for deep root hydration and water efficiency.
Turf: High-performance pop-up sprinklers specifically calibrated for the new Sir Walter Buffalo lawn.
The Result
The final result is a structured, tiered landscape that has completely transformed the home's street appeal. By combining the strength of steel-posted retaining walls with the softness of native flora and premium Buffalo turf, we’ve delivered a space that is as functional as it is beautiful.
